The name Sapio was inspired by Horace's phrase sapere aude, meaning "dare to know." Sapio in Latin means "I know." As a result of their hard work and accomplishments, we want our students to have the confidence to declare boldy, "I know!"
Our logo comes from the tradition of medieval heraldry, in which individuals or families chose coats of arms to represent themselves. People could recognize these coats of arms from far away, and the symbols on them indicated details about a person's family structure, social status, or character.
In heraldic symbolism, the fox represents intelligence, cunning, and wit. We chose the fox as the mascot for Sapio Tutoring Services because we want our students to have a thoughtful yet agile approach to learning and problem solving.Â
